Eastern Market Pottery was established at the historic Washington, DC Eastern Market in 1963. From its inception the goal of the studio was to become a creative arts space designed to serve and integrate into the Capitol Hill neighborhood and community. Originally located in the second floor attic space, the studio was forced to move to a temporary location when Eastern Market suffered a devastating fire in 2007. Thankfully with the support of local Hill residents, students, and the city the studio was able to move back into the building in 2009. Sarah Buffaloe and her partner purchased the business in 2019 and are excited to continue the tradition of the studio and ensure it remains a creative space for potters as well as a fixture of the community.
