Not What You Think is an a cappella ensemble performing varied and diverse pop, and folk music, and was originally affiliated with the Lesbian & Gay Chorus of DC. The members share a core belief that, as gay men and lesbians singing together, they have an opportunity and responsibility to effect change and to open hearts and minds. Not What You Think works for equality and social justice through song and humor and hopes for the day our music can reflect a world at peace.
ABOUT WATERFALLS, THE MOON, AND SENSIBLE SHOES
Waterfalls, The Moon, and Sensible Shoes: One Lesbian Life reflects on the different loves, grief, friendship, romance, and feminism that make up one Lesbian life. Using letters and diaries from six decades, the author ties disparate family life and American post-war life together, while providing a personal account of one Lesbian life emerging in the 1970s to the AIDS crisis and beyond.
JILL P. STRACHAN left behind successful grant writing for the pleasures of creating nonfiction, traveling with her partner, playing tennis, and walking her dog. Her career in arts and association management spanned 40 years including some time as the executive director of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. She holds a Ph.D. in the History of Religion. Her pieces have been published in Grand-Dame Literary Magazine, Querencia, and Metro Weekly. She is the author of Waterfalls, The Moon and Sensible Shoes-One Lesbian Life.
