The Folger and the Eudora Welty Foundation join together to welcome award-winning author Kate DiCamillo as she delivers the 2026 Eudora Welty Lecture, inspired by the writing and life of famed author Eudora Welty. Author Ann Patchett, who delivered the lecture in 2021, will introduce DiCamillo.
DiCamillo is one of America’s most beloved storytellers; some of her best-known novels include Because of Winn-Dixie (2000), The Tale of Despereaux (2003), and Flora & Ulysses (2013). She is a former National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature and a two-time Newbery Medalist.
The lecture, which will be followed by a book signing, is produced with the Eudora Welty Foundation.
