Reena Esmail’s Saans (Breath), composed as a gift for her best friend’s marriage, invites a contemplative exhalation, and is paired with the classic love story of Daphnis and Chloe, transcribed from the beloved Ravel orchestral work. Boulanger’s shimmering colors delight, and the program concludes with the epic melodicism of Anton Arensky—whose writing bridges the likes of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
