The Southeast Library is reopening after a multi-year modernization. Come explore the new spaces, dance to live music, and enjoy fun activities, treats, giveaways, and more!

Join us for a joyful neighborhood celebration as we reopen the newly modernized Southeast Library. This is a major milestone for the Capitol Hill community, and we’re marking the occasion with a lively block party full of music, activities, and opportunities to explore your transformed library.

Step inside and be among the first to experience the library’s beautifully reimagined spaces, including expanded areas for children, teens, and adults; significantly more seating; upgraded lighting and acoustics; restored historic features; improved technology access; and a brand-new universal entrance that welcomes everyone.

Outside on 7th Street, enjoy a festive celebration supported by the Friends of the Southeast Library with live music, family-friendly activities, packaged snacks*, and fun giveaways*. Bring friends, family, and neighbors, you won’t want to miss this special moment for the community!
